When an ant feeds it can store part of the ingested in a small deposit called "maw".
Ants are able to share the food of the "maw" with their congeners creating a living web of small deposits that give rise to the "collective stomach" from the colony.

Foods that can be stored in the "social stomach" are liquid foods such as "Honeydew" or "Mycelium".
